Studying Classical Arabic
The modern Arabic language is spoken by about 230 million people worldwide and is the official language in 26 countries, including in Algeria, Bahrain, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirate and Yemen.

Classical Arabic is the form of the Arabic language that is used in literary texts based on the Medieval dialects of Arab tribes. Classical Arabic is mostly used for the purpose of studying the Qur’an, which is written in Classical Arabic. Muslims also recite prayers in Classical Arabic. For these reasons, Classical Arabic is considered by many to be a sacred language.
