Visiting Italy

Italy ranks among one of the top five most-visited countries in the world with more than 70 million people per year traveling there. It’s easy to understand why when you look at the numbers: 40,000 forts and castles, 95,000 monumental churches, 5,600 museums and archaeological sites, 4,000 beautiful gardens and much more! There’s so much to see, from the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the romantic canals in Venice to the Vatican and ancient ruins in Rome to the place many call the world’s most beautiful city, Florence.

Cuisine varies widely across Italy, so you will want to read the menu closely as you sample traditional food across the different regions. Don’t forget to taste Toscana wine, try a sip of Limoncello along the Amalfi Coast or indulge with homemade gelato in Rome (or pretty much anywhere in Italy!). No matter where you go, Italians are happy to answer your questions or point you to their favorite café. Don’t be afraid to ask for directions or strike up a conversation. Italian-speaking Countries

There are more than 70 million Italian-speaking people worldwide. Of course, it is the main language in Italy. But Italian is also one of four official languages in Switzerland, and it is spoken in parts of Slovenia, Monaco, Croatia and even France, as well as in communities in places like the United States, Canada, Argentina and Brazil.
